Message from Administration

Dear Kodiak Families:

The school has been very busy this week with learning activities, volleyball practices, and PJ Day! Students and staff were excited to wear PJs to school and have a comfy day. Thank you to the Leadership students for organizing the day. Thank you to our families that have kindly donated items to the Food Drive. We are accepting donations until December 5th.

Shoutout to the girls Volleyball team, who won their games last weekend. Well done! This week the girls play at Beiseker School. Come out and support them if you can!

We have been very lucky to continue having amazing weather. We hope it continues for a bit longer.

Have an amazing week!

Bear Necessities

All schools in Rocky View are working towards creating their Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) matrixes. At Kathyrn School, PBIS will be referred to the BEAR NECESSITIES moving forward.

The BEAR NECESSITIES (PBIS) are positive behaviors that are encouraged and expected in the school for all students to be accountable, respectful, and safe.

For the month of November, the focus has been being respectful by caring for all. The kindergarten class has created a Care For All Bingo that your family may participate in. If you family completes the Care for All Bingo (Black out) please print and return the bingo card to school with your family’s name on it. The kindergarten class would love to see how many families from our school played their bingo!

CDA Corner

Message from CDA, Ms. Ludwig

Have you ever had a very challenging parenting moment?

A day when you had to gather all of your parenting knowledge and experience to stay in control of yourself despite the triggering moment?

Here’s what you can do…

Imagine an iceberg.

Remind yourself that your children’s challenging behaviors are just the tip of the iceberg. There is a lot more going on “below the surface.”

This change in perspective helps you to consider the deeper layers of their feelings and actions.

So, instead of thinking, “My child is so clingy!” try shifting your perspective to: “My child feels safe when they’re around me.”

Or rather than thinking, “My child is so demanding!” you can think, “My child is still learning how to be politely assertive.”

In this week’s parenting guide, you’ll find more examples of shifting your perspective to feel better in those challenging moments.
