Message from Administration

Dear Kodiak Families:

We have had much better weather this week and students have been enjoying being outside with the nicer weather. Students did a great job practicing bus evacuations this morning.

We are preparing our Remembrance Day Service which we will hold on Thursday, Nov. 9th in the morning. We will have a short week as we take time on Friday to remember all those who have served in conflicts, world wars, and those who continue to serve.

Our volleyball students are well under way with practices and upcoming games. Good luck to everyone! We are looking forward to seeing many of you for our parent teacher interviews the following week!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Three-Way Conferences

Three-Way conferences are now available to be booked. Please sign-up through Conference Manager and create a profile if you currently do not have one: Kathyrn School Conference Manager (schoolsoft.com). The dates are November 16th and 17th, from 4-7pm. Conferences are being offered by zoom, phone, or face-to-face.

Kindergarten

With Ms. Irvine, the kindergarten class explored pumpkins using their senses with our divisional Occupational Therapist, Chris. They discussed the 5 senses they can use to come up with words to describe how they interact with the pumpkins.

Some older students volunteered to come and help us in our exploring :)

CDA Corner

A message from our CDA, Ms. Ludwig

Does it seem like your child can go from 0 to 100 on the anger scale in the blink of an eye?

In moments like this, you probably think, “What just happened? They were just playing quietly a second ago.”

Here’s the thing…

It’s very challenging for our kids to manage their behavior when they experience strong emotions like anger.

That's why it's crucial for us to:

  1. Help them recognize when these big feelings arise.

  2. Teach them strategies to cope and let these emotions pass more smoothly.

And this week’s guide Level Up Your Calm: A Game Control For Anger will help you do just that.
