Principal's Message

Principal Message 2023-2024

At Kathyrn School, we are committed to providing quality education in an environment where students can learn, belong, and succeed. Our vision is one where all members of our community strive to achieve their personal best.

Numeracy and literacy skills are very important for student success. At Kathyrn School, we follow the lead of Rocky View Schools long range goal of using proven, research-based, effective strategies to help students read, write, and perform math. Developing student skills in numeracy and literacy increases student confidence and their desire to engage and grow.

Our school offers small class sizes which provide many opportunities for small group and individualized support. Our school has served multigenerational families as well as new families to the area for many years and the heart of this school has always been relationships. Building healthy, strong relationships with each other guides the work we do with our students and families. The three pillars of our BEAR Necessities framework are Accountable, Respectful, and Safe. These three pillars are the foundation of our core work with our students and establishes clear expectations for student behavior and provides positive reinforcement that fosters growth and learning for all students.

As someone who grew up in a small community on a farm, I deeply value the sense of community and connection that rural living instills. Our school is not just a place of learning; it is a vibrant community that thrives on the bonds we create. Together, we cultivate an atmosphere where every student can grow and flourish. The rural community ethos teaches us the significance of unity, hard work, and resilience – values that I believe contribute to a well-rounded education.

It is an honor to serve as your school principal at this wonderful school.

Mrs. Kelly Huck - Principal
